The Optimal Form of a Personal Shared (Durable) Mobility Device

Despite all of the efforts over the past 10-years to invent new personal ways of moving short distances, we might say that the bicycle is still the clear winner. And enhancing that bicycle with electric power might be the next winner.

Sharing models have come and gone, municipality and city regulations have been enacted, mergers have occurred, companies have dissolved and product and service redesigns have been continuous, but no single versatile, mass-market, durable, highly desired and shared vehicle for short-distances has emerged. There has been no clear market winner.

However, data has been collected and that may be the most valuable asset of any of these efforts.

At Motourly, we are working with innovative new partners to explore this space with a particular focus on the conversion of their already efficient small electric vehicles into multi-purpose flexible platforms. The future is in the development of platforms that can be used for general purpose vehicles or purpose-built tasks.

The Denso PEV (Persuasive Electric Vehicle)

We expect that the eventual market leader will emerge from concepts like those above. At the same time (or maybe even prior) a new model of efficient, electric camper or outdoor adventure type vehicle will also emerge and thrive. The Neuron EV camper shown below is an early example of such a vehicle.

Good for the environment, practical and efficient, simple to use and clean, don’t need to go to fast or travel to far.
